After a final day of screwing up (uh, I mean "upwards"), the ceiling had a completed grid of MDF slats crossing perpendicular to the trusses. The thick panels of 5/8" drywall will fasten with short screws to these strips, and should help to isolate room vibrations from the exterior structure.
