I finally decided to go with a laminate click floor (Wine Barrel Oak style), mainly because of it's ease of install and durability. After a bit of research, I discovered a close-out on some extra-thick stock (1/2 inch, almost twice normal) and grabbed a truckload of it. Not dirt cheap at $2 per square foot, but a steal from the original price of $5.98! I unwrapped the boxes to let the boards acclimate to the room before installation.
