I got some 1/8" pegboard (mdf) to mount the slats on, but it was pretty flimsy, so I decided to make frame edges from some clear pine. I got a couple of 1x2 sticks, ripped them in half to make 3/4" square stock, then ripped a 3/8" groove down the middle of each one.
